PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe ReviewPAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe 2

The PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe is an economically priced, mesh-and-canvas portable playpen that can be used to secure small to mid-sized pets, and especially when they’re young. It has a good amount of room inside, standing at 42”x42”x25”, and its mesh walls allow good ventilation whilst allowing your pet to peer around at the surroundings. The top can be zipped on or off, and also has a mesh section which allows more light to come in.

The bottom is also detachable, and is affixed to the pen with velcro. The portability and ease of use are the more appealing qualities of this playpen. Since it comes pre-assembled, setting up takes just a few seconds, involving a few simple steps. Likewise, folding it back down very easy, and it comes with a canvas-made carrying case that you can store it away with, or carry it in when you are traveling.

In this review, we’ll look at both the positives and negatives when it comes to the design, build and functionality of the PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe to help you decide whether to buy it or not.

Good Design With Some Thoughtful FeaturesPAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe - 1

The PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe is built large enough to house a small to medium-sized dog or cat very comfortably, with space galore to play around and stretch-out every which way when sleeping or resting. It’s excellent for keeping a litter of pups or kittens, and contain all their fun and games to one spot, where you can both keep an eye on them, and get on with your day without any worry.

The removable top and bottom make it much easier to clean up any messes inside, and just generally tidy it up. The mesh sides, or windows, if you like, are large enough to allow great visibility from the inside so your pet doesn’t necessarily feel left out of things. It’s pretty light, because it’s made of fabric, making it easy to carry it around inside the house, or even outside, once it’s folded up. Also, it features a pocket on the outside, where you can keep some extra treats or any accessory you wish to keep on hand.

Portability

The fact that the PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe is so easy to fold, carry around and set-up makes it highly useful due to the portability. You can move it around within the house more easily than a regular crate, and thus don’t have to confine your pet to one spot within the house.

This is especially great when you need to keep an eye on a kitten or a puppy, while also getting some work done. The playpen can also be set-up outside in your garden, and can even be staked to the ground so it isn’t flipped over or dragged around if your pet gets overly enthusiastic.

The playpen can also be carried along in its accompanying case when traveling, so you can take them along on your trips, and don’t have to go looking for a sitter anymore, or worse, lock them up at home.

Multiple UsesPAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe 3

The PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe offers great value for its price in terms of the number of uses it can be put to. It can be used as an alternative kennel for a new puppy or kitten in the house, when you want to keep it separate from your other pets. The fact that it is so easy to clean up makes it excellent for use when crate training your new pup. Or just use it as a place for them to rest and relax in.

The pen with its top open is also a great place for a mother to keep her litter, so she can come and go as she pleases, while also keeping them secure. And then there’s the portability, of course, which allows you to take your pets along with you, safe in the knowledge that you can secure them in the playpen when you need to.

Affordable

The PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe is quite attractively priced, considering the run of features it has. It’s one of the more affordable portable playpens in the market.
However, it’d be wise to be wary of such persuasive pricing, where often, there tend to be certain compromises in the quality of the build or finish. Read on for the negatives we found in our review.[/vc_column_text][title_mod title_name=”Cons”][vc_column_text]

May Not Be Sturdy Or Large Enough For All

If you have one of the larger breeds of dog, or a particularly energetic one who finds it difficult to stay in an enclosed space, this might not be the right product to get, considering the materials used. A number of owners with particularly spirited dogs or cats have complained of this playpen’s inability to contain them.

The material may be damaged or ripped open, and the pen itself flipped over if the attempts to escape it are energetic enough. Sturdier crates, or pens with more reinforced interiors would be more appropriate in such cases.

The Removable Bottom Is A Major Weakness

The bottom, which attaches to the playpen via strips of velcro, has been found to be a definite weakness in the security of the playpen, with even mildly curious pets successfully able to dig into the gaps between the floor and the wall and escape easily. And once they discover a weakness, it’s highly unlikely they wouldn’t resort to it again, rendering the playpen entirely useless, and, on the contrary, dangerous when using outdoors. Some owners have, in fact, discovered that inverting the playpen to have the zipped top as the floor of the pen works better.

Strong and Off-Putting Odor When New

The PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe gives off a particularly strong smell of chemicals, whether it’s the paint or some other material is unclear. It’s, however, quite off-putting, and would certainly irritate dogs and cats who have a very acute sense of smell. Owners have reported that liberal dousing with Febreze or other air fresheners might help, but it’s certainly a bother.

Build And Finish May Not Be Uniformly Up To Mark

When you’re settling for an economically priced product, you run the risk of some sub-standard finishing. Unfortunately that’s been the case for a number of owners, be it stitches coming apart right out of the box, weak zippers easily breaking or coming apart at the teeth, and the playpen not holding its shape as well under pressure.[/vc_column_text][title_mod title_name=”Conclusion”][vc_column_text]While the PAW Pet Pop-Up Playpen Deluxe may be an affordable buy with a good set of features and decent functionality, it does have its faults, be it poor finishing or some weak spots when faced with active pets. But it still remains a handy and versatile purchase, if you don’t mind these things, or if your pets are docile enough to be comfortable and stay put inside.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
